5 Must Have a.Bags

It seems as if the wedge sneaker has become a household staple in the Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion franchise. How can it not?! I can attest to how it can instantly glam up one’s casual weekend look and even to the degree of comfort that this pair of teetering high wedges has. It’s almost criminal not to own a pair! And since a LOT of you fasioneistas out there have been asking for a post on this yet again, well here you go:
This SS2013 we see Marc bring it back with several colour variations available – my fave of which would have to be the cut-out version available in silver and gold. Of course, can you ignore the black and army combo?! Gorgeous aren’t they? Retailing for around USD 400 – 500 a pair, it’s honestly something any fasioneista should have in their closet. It’s just too fashionable, comfortable and utilitarian to pass up. And believe me the 3 adjectives I just used to describe these wedges are almost impossible to be said in the same sentence [let alone the same breath!] in the world of fashion. Don’t even think about it – just click on those photos and purchase away!! I highly recommend it.
Taking a break from catching the #NYFW shows, I just wanted to share a recent find during one of my shopping trips. Céline has recently launched a new clutch bag – perfect for evenings out or even for work if I can say so myself – called the Double Flap Clutch.
Available in the Takashimaya Boutique here in Singapore, it’s currently available in 2 variations – one in python skin leather in a deep and warm burgundy colour as you see above and the other in a bi-color/material combination dominated by lush pony hair on the front flap with a bright orange hue. I am personally in love with the latter option and for SGD 2100, it’s a piece that’ll definitely add a touch of glam and bam to your wardrobe. For those looking for a more classic and elegant variation then I’d suggest going for the one in python, which retails for SGD 2700.
Went into Givenchy the other day and I must say I just fell in love. With the FW12 collection in full bloom in shops, 2 of the pieces that I must say are to die for would be this black cape with leather detail and this knitted poncho with French lace and beads.
They’re just stunning pieces and as expected, stunning prices. I wasn’t able to resist trying them on as they were just too gorgeous. The cape [retailing for about SGD 5000] can be worn just on the shoulder or you can unzip the armholes as I’ve done so. It has this asymmetrical leather detail on the chest area that adds a tinge of sophistication and uniqueness to the look. The poncho, on the other hand, is one of a kind. Retailing for around SGD 4700, it’s a piece that can be carried over regardless of season. You can blame the intricate detailing of the handwoven French lace and beads that resembles a bustier for that hefty price tag.
I think it’s pretty obvious that I am a Céline fan ever since Ms. Philo stepped in as the label’s Creative Director. I was actually waiting with bated breath for the SS2013 Women’s RTW Collection shown at Paris Fashion Week, and as per usual it was brilliant! Well, to add fuel to my ever-growing fanaticism, I dropped by the shop the other day to check out what pieces from the FW12 collection have been left un-snatched by Céline hungry fasioneistas. And lo and behold there is one more jewel that is up for grabs ladies and gents!
Check out this simply mouth-watering Phantom Luggage from Céline’ FW2012 collection in a deep red suede material retailing for SGD 2900. Beautiful isn’t it? It’s lined in lamb leather, with the same deep red color and of course, the handle and outer detailing is made of leather too. I was immediately head over heels! And who wouldn’t? It looks absolutely stunning! The only caution to this is the fact that it’s made of suede, which will stain lighter colored clothing. Otherwise, it’s the perfect piece to have and to hold. If I were you, I’d be running down Takashimaya right now to grab it for my very own as it’s the only piece left Otherwise, some other fasioneista will be the proud owner of this beautiful baby.
Givenchy is certainly on the rise in the fashion world as we see fashion heavy weights such as Bryanboy & Pelayo profess their love for the label by strutting down in the label’s wares every where they go. Well, lucky for us here in Singapore, the label is already well entrenched and I think it is one of the most prolific brands we have that brings haute couture right to your doorstep.
For FW12, we see the brand reinventing its key bag designs and I believe you should have seen some of my past posts on the Antigona [CLICK HERE to FIND OUT MORE]. This time around, let’s pay homage to my first love – the Pandora. For this season, we see the label adding a ton of texture to their key pieces and it’s all in good measure. The result are exquisite, timeless pieces that would be welcome in any bag lover’s collection!
This Pandora Bag in gorgeous red is made of ostrich skin with gun metal detailing. Retailing for SGD 7500, it is the only piece here in Singapore – making it one of a kind. Unique, eye catching and exquisite best describes this bag and for the price it commands, why wouldn’t it no?
Another bag that caught my eye would be this small Pandora Bag with mink fur in luscious chocolate brown. I loved how supple the leather of the bag is and so does the mink fur. You’d totally just want to hang onto it and hug it! The price tag isn’t as bad as that of the latter as this piece will set you back for SGD 2600 only [and this is considering the fact that it has mink on it].

I received a call from the Kenzo boutique here in Singapore to let me know that the Vans by Kenzo collection is now available in stores. Pieces are limited, with quite a few designs. Retailing for SGD280 here, it’s a wee bit expensive compared to purchasing it from the US where it’s retailing at about USD120. Well, fine, price here is a far cry. But if you’re desperate to have one from the collection then I guess you wouldn’t mind the price diff since it’s basically sold out everywhere else.
Anyway, above are the selection for ladies and I am just adoring the yellow colored ones. I was especially keen on the yellow striped one and unfortunately [or fortunately enough in my case], they’re biggest size ran a wee bit too small for me. The ones below would be the male selection. Not that much of a fan myself apart from the purple hued one with grids, which I thought was interesting.
So which one’s your pick?
FW 2012 is definitely the season to get Givenchy’s Antigona Envelope Clutch. After releasing a version in a gorgeous calf-hair number [CLICK HERE for MORE DETAILS], we see Tisci exploring further the boundaries of this growing classic in orange python. The result is nothing short of magical.
I tell you, it is as beautiful in person as it is in the photo. The feel of the clutch is sheer luxury – and that is saying a lot, coming from someone who absolutely abhors anything to do with snakes. The color is rich and supple and definitely catches the eye of anyone who sees it. Retailing for SGD2400 here in Singapore, it’s a bit pricey, but honestly I think worth every penny. This will definitely draw the attention and jealous stares of anyone who sees you strutting down a party with this clutch. Alternatively, you can order this piece from Barneys NY where it retails for around USD1770.
Oh and of course I couldn’t resist the fun of taking a photo with it. It complemented my outfit that day, making me lust after it even more. What do you think? Gorgeous isn’t it?
Ah. Capturing my heart the minute I laid eyes on it would be this gorgeous pair of Céline Loafers. Said to be part of the FW2012 collection [though honest I would think it can be something for SS], these shoes are definitely made for comfort and style. The rich blue is complemented by its hairy texture, giving it a simple, yet luxurious feel. Further, the pop of white gives it a casual flair yet surprisingly it adds to the attractiveness of the design – as if it weren’t lucrative enough than it already is. Just love it!
Retailing more or less at about SGD 900 [pardon me for not remembering the exact price], they’re any shoe lovers paradise. It’s actually a perfect pair as it’s androgyny makes it appealing to both sexes; with sizes available that can accommodate both men and women too. So whether you’re a casual loving posh female or a fashion forward male metrosexual, this pair will have you covered. So what do you fasioneistas think? Yay or nay? I say definitely yay!
